Crepe fabrics are woven from highly-twisted yarns. This twisting makes the yarn crinkle. Consequently, crepe has a slightly crinkly feel and appearance. Even though it is drapey, crepe can be used for more tailored garments, as it holds its shape well. Indeed, crepe fabrics are widely used in women’s apparel, from suiting, to dresses, to skirts, to trousers.
We've got two ranges of plain-coloured crepes: our Isobel poly-viscose crepe, and our Sibylle poly crepe. The Isobel range is lighter and has a softer feel; it can be used for blouses and tops, as well as for more 'bottom-weight' garments (trousers, skirts, etc.). Our Sibylle range is heavier and very crease-resistant. It's probably a little too heavy to be used for tops.
Prices are per quarter metre (0.25 m).
