Wanting to make a casual shirt dress? You will definitely want to check out McCall's 6885! It's a semi-fitted, pullover shirt dress pattern. It has a collar and a button placket. There are three options for the hem: straight, a gentle shirt-tail curve, and a more extreme shirt-tail curve with deep slits at the side seams. There are also three options for the sleeves: sleeveless, short sleeves and rolled elbow-length sleeves with button tabs. Other options include breast pockets and a tie for the waist!
McCall's has rated this an 'easy' pattern. As for reviews, there are currently 11 reviews of this pattern on PatternReview.com, and 82% of the reviews give it a positive rating. The main reservation about this dress seems to be that the slits at the side feel a little high to some sewers: so, please keep this in mind before you make it. You may want to measure where the slits will come to and see whether you will feel comfortable with exposing this much of your leg: if not, either make the version with the straight hem or simply modify the hem curve.
