Our outfit of the week for 3 August 2015 is Grainline Studio's Archer shirt paired with Sewaholic Patterns' Thurlow shorts! Get 10% off these patterns until 12 pm on Monday, 10 August 2015. Find the patterns (and all the coordinating fabrics) at the bottom of this page.
Grainline Studio's Archer shirt is really popular pattern: 100 reviews and counting on PatternReview.com! It is popular for a reason: of those who rated the pattern, 98% gave the pattern a positive rating! Archer is a loosely-fitted button-up shirt with a yoke and pockets. While the pattern itself has sleeves, there is a tutorial on Grainline's website for making it sleeveless. It is an intermediate-level pattern. However, if you're an advanced beginner wanting to learn new skills, I would definitely encourage you to try this pattern. Grainline has a very detailed sewalong on their website, which guides you step-by-step through the process of making this shirt. You'll learn how to sew cuffs, shirt collars, button bands and more!
Sewaholic Patterns' Thurlow is another popular pattern. There are currently 44 reviews on PatternReview.com. Of those who rated the pattern, 95% gave it a positive rating! I'm not sure that I've ever seen a trousers pattern with such a high rating on PatternReview.com! Thurlow can be made as shorts or as full-length trousers. Both sit below the waist, with a slightly flared leg and slash pockets. The shorts can be cuffed or un-cuffed. Like Archer, this is an intermediate pattern. There is also a sewalong available by Lladybird here.
Drawing on the inspiration images, I've recommended a few of our shirting fabrics, poplins and viscose challises for the Archer shirt. It's pictured above in our white, cream and light blue Spencer and Madeleine shirtings, as well as in one of our small polkadot Sabine poplins. For the Thurlow shorts, I've recommended our black and white Leonore stretch cotton sateens and our Sandrine and Sydney stretch denims (it's pictured in our Sandrine denim).
