Outfit of the Week - 8 June 2015
Our outfit of the week for 8 June 2015 is Colette Patterns' Laurel dress. Get 10% off this pattern until 12 pm on Monday, 15 June 2015! Find the pattern (and all the coordinating fabrics) at the bottom of this page.
Colette Patterns' Laurel dress is a lovely shift dress pattern. The fit is semi-loose, with a fitted bust and back darts (which keep the shape streamlined). Options include menswear-style patch pockets, 1960s-style gathered cuffs, a shortened blouse version, and underlining (for using lace and sheer fabrics). Colette also has a free bonus e-booklet on their website which includes instructions for nine more variations, including a sleeveless version, tiny ruffles on the neckline, and a keyhole neckline! With all of these variations and with this pattern working with a wide range of fabrics, you can use this pattern again and again!
This is quite a popular pattern, with 45 reviews on PatternReview.com. Moreover, of those who filled out the ratings section of the review form, 93% gave it a positive rating!
This pattern is rated by Colette as a 'beginner' pattern, and it should be noted that Colette's patterns have fabulous instructions (their motto is 'patterns that teach').
Based on the inspiration images, I've recommended several of our crepes and our ivory Corrine lace.
Prices for fabrics are per quarter metre (0.25 m).
